Fundraising Strategist

20-25 hours/week

This year the Democracy Center is taking the bold step of starting a capital campaign that will allow this unique community resource to provide even more organizations space and also to ensure that the Center will available for many years to come. We are looking to hire a part time passionate Fundraising Advisor to assist with the planning and executing of a capital campaign. This job, like the Democracy Center, has enormous potential for growth.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or B.A. Degree preferred
  • A minimum of 4 years of fundraising experience, including success with foundation grants, membership, and individual donors.
  • High degree of organization and pro-active planning.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment
  • Results oriented; creative thinker and problem solver
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Knowledge of computer and database software, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint
  • Previous non-profit experience in Cambridge, Boston and surrounding areas a plus
  • Enthusiasm for our mission
  • Proven track record managing and delivering multiple projects under deadline.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to translate goals and visions into action plans.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in current trends in philanthropy/non-profit management desired.
  • Success developing entry-level talent to become high-performing contributors.
Key Responsibilities-
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of a capital campaign strategy
  • Manage communication with funders and prospective funders. Participate in and lead identified meetings with funders and prospective funders based on market needs.
  • Provide oversight regarding consistency and quality regarding funder and outreach communications.
  • Oversee the production of high-quality grant proposals and reports for funders, often under tight deadlines.
  • Manage the completion of non-standard grant reports and proposals as required.
  • Lead prospect research to maximize fundraising outcomes with existing donors; identify and qualify new funding prospects.
  • Support the Fundraising Director in the development of an effective fundraising strategy and other fundraising projects.
  • Assist in formulating communications and marketing strategies to engage key stakeholders.
  • Maintain funder records in database.
  • Assist in analyzing fundraising data to provide projections on the success rates of securing funding.
  • Establish and maintain solid and effective working relationships with executive fundraisers.
  • Recruit and manage a team fundraising fellows using both qualitative and quantitative criteria to evaluate success; guide professional development and provide mentoring.
