Applying for Space at the Democracy Center

*NOTE: Our room reservation system has changed. We now require a Contract to be uploaded in addition to the Reservation Form. Please read the instructions below carefully.*

How to Apply for a Reservation
1. Read the building rules and the notes about fees and capacity (below).
2. Check the calendar for availability.
3. Download Application Form and the Contract.
4. Complete the forms and upload them. Please be sure to change the file names to include your event name and the date that you would like space.
5. Download instructions for the day of your event, directions to the center, a check-out sheet, and a floorplan.
6. Once we review and approve your application, you will receive an email confirming your reservation and information about making your payment.

Building Rules. Our rules are few and simple. Our expectations are always very high. Please read this list and follow it. We do check on the state of the building after each event and will not allow groups that break the rules to return to the Center. Events that run late at night will have to meet certain criteria and, of course, must follow the same guidelines as all other events.

  • The person in charge of the event must arrange to come to the Center beforehand for a 10-minute Walkthrough with a staff member (see reservation form). You only have to take a building tour once in order to host multiple events.
  • Please only reserve the entire first floor if you need to use all the space.  We ask organizations not to reserve the entire space in order to keep the other rooms empty.  Our space is for the use of the entire community, and we don't want it to be empty!  Please call or email if you have concerns about sharing the space for a particular event.
  • Before a reservation is finalized we need to recieve a signed copy of our "Respecting our Space" contract and appropriate payment.
  • There is no smoking or alcohol in the building.
  • Groups MUST CLEAN UP after their event.
  • Do not leave trash or food behind.
  • Please use the recycling bins.
  • Put all furniture that was moved back in its original position.
  • If you are the last one out of the building, please close all the windows and turn off all the lights.
  • THE DEMOCRACY CENTER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DESIGNATE EVENTS AS SOCIALS AND APPLY THE DESIGNATED GUIDELINES.

Cancellation.  If you need to cancel your reservation at the Center, please let us know via email or phone as soon as possible so that we can give the space to another group.

Costs. Below are the costs for renting the space. Please note that 100% of the fees go towards operational costs of the building. HOWEVER, please talk to us if payment is an issue for your organization. The building is quite expensive to run and we really need your help in maintaining this community space.
