Meet Our Staff!

Cecilia Duran - Executive Director

Originally from Mexico City, Cecilia has a long history with the Democracy Center. From her time with Boston Mobilization, where she founded the Youth Empowerment Project to becoming the Democracy Center's first full time staff in 2007. Cecilia has been organizing around issues involving youth, racism, food justice and farming since 2001. She became acting director in November of 2008.

Ayanna Parris - Center Coordinator

A Boston native who first encountered the Center through her work with resident organization Boston Mobilization in 2007. Ayanna is a proud member of Reflect and Strengthen and has been working with youth in Cambridge and Boston around social justice and liberation. She started as Coordinator this April.

Torey Whitfield - Creative and administrative assistant

A Cambridge native, Torey is a graphic designer who has done various projects around the City of Cambridge. She also joined the Center in November of 2008.
